Tonight at the 40 Watt, local favorites The Olivia Tremor Control will be playing as a part of Athens PopFest 2011. The group rose to prominence and critical acclaim in the 90's as part of the highly prolific and still active Elephant 6 Collective. Their first two albums, Dusk at Cubist Castle and Black Foliage: Animation Music Volume One, were both standout releases from that era of Athens' music scene, brilliant in their clash of Beatles-esque pop with sonic experimentation and noise soundscapes. Fresh off their first new tour, the band has the first new material in five years out now and it's great to see them back. Come check out their unique and awesome experimental psych-pop goodness for $15 and see a bunch of other great local bands including Casper & the Cookies, James Husband, and Masters of the Hemisphere.
